From the exterior, this new construction home combines painted brick, natural stone and steep gables with black-framed windows that help define the architecture without making the façade feel overly modern. The darker window frames create contrast against the lighter exterior materials while visually tying together the home’s multiple rooflines and elevations.
The project incorporated a mix of picture and casement windows throughout the home, allowing each room to balance natural light, ventilation and scale differently. Several front-facing windows also included simulated divided lite grilles, giving the street-facing elevation a more traditional appearance while maintaining cleaner, uninterrupted glass elsewhere in the home.
Inside, the black window frames stand out against lighter interior finishes and help draw attention toward the outdoor views and natural light entering each space.
Picture Windows Bring More Natural Light into Main Living Spaces
Large picture windows became a defining feature in areas like the study and dining room, where oversized glass openings help brighten the interiors while emphasizing the height of the walls. Because picture windows do not require moving components or operating hardware, they allow for larger expanses of uninterrupted glass compared to some operable window styles. The project also incorporated several non-standard window sizes to better align with the scale of the home’s architecture. Tall vertical openings help the rooms feel more open while allowing daylight to move deeper into the floorplan throughout the day.
The clean-lined look of the picture windows pairs with the home’s modern finishes without competing with other architectural details throughout the interior.
Sliding Patio Doors Connect the Interior to Outdoor Living Areas
Large sliding patio doors were incorporated into both the breakfast and family room areas, helping create stronger connections between the interior living spaces and the outdoors.
Each four-panel sliding patio door measures more than 15 feet wide and features two center venting panels surrounded by fixed glass panels on each side. The configuration allows for expansive views and larger openings while maintaining a streamlined appearance when closed.
Grille-free glass, matte black hardware and black-painted aluminum frames reinforce the project’s contemporary aesthetic while keeping the focus on natural light and outdoor visibility. The large glass openings also help the connected living spaces feel brighter and more open throughout the day.
Energy-Efficient Windows Designed for Georgia’s Climate
In addition to the home’s modern appearance, the project prioritized energy-efficient performance across both the windows and patio doors. The glass packages included SunDefense™ Low-E insulating glass with argon gas between the panes to help manage solar heat gain while still bringing natural light into the home.
That combination is especially important in warmer southern climates where large glass openings can impact indoor comfort. By incorporating energy-efficient insulating glass throughout the project, the homeowners were able to maintain the open, glass-focused design they wanted while supporting year-round comfort.
Contemporary Windows and Patio Doors Complete the New Construction Design
Rather than relying on ornate details or heavy trim work, the home uses glass, contrast and proportion to create visual interest throughout the design. The combination of black windows, oversized glass and expansive sliding patio doors helps the home feel bright, modern and connected from room to room.
The finished project demonstrates how thoughtfully sized windows and patio doors can shape the overall feel of a new construction home while supporting natural light, energy efficiency and contemporary design goals.
