Great Barrington, Massachusetts is a small town known for its beautiful summers and busy ski resorts in the winter. With a population of around 7,000 people, the area is also known for its tightly-knit sense of community. We met with homeowners who were looking to swap their old, damaged windows for a more modern look. We recommended black Pella Impervia fiberglass windows to get the job done.
Rectangle Windows Replace Arch Top for Contemporary Look
As this home was built in the 1950s, the windows had seen a lot of wear over the years and were showing signs that they needed to be replaced. In addition to upgraded durability, the homeowners also wanted to change the aesthetic of their windows from a traditional arch to something more modern. Clean, straight lines are truer to the contemporary home aesthetic. We increased the amount of natural light let into the home by adding picture windows above the venting double-hung windows. The two double-hung windows are mulled together and have sashes that open from the top and bottom for increased air circulation.
Black Windows Offer Modern Feel to Older Home
In addition to the changes in shape, the homeowners also opted to modernize their curb appeal by replacing the bright teal color of their windows with black. The black windows blend well with the dark exterior, creating a monotone look that doesn't distract from other elements of the home. The window grilles offer a nod to the traditional design of the home and are a great way to add character.
Fiberglass Windows Boast Durability Against Massachusetts Weather
The homeowners were very adamant about the importance of durability in their new windows and wanted something to withstand the harsh Massachusetts winters and summers. Pella Impervia windows, made of our proprietary fiberglass, hold up well in climates with ample amounts of rain and snow. Our low-maintenance fiberglass is tested to withstand some of the harshest conditions, including extreme heat and sub-zero cold.9 In addition to resistance against hot and cold temperatures, these windows will never rot or corrode.
After the installation, the homeowners couldn't believe the impact the new window designs had on the curb appeal of their home. With changes in both the shape and color of the windows, they were also excited about the overall quality and lack of maintenance needed. Built to withstand many more seasons of Massachusetts weather, we are confident that these windows will provide the homeowners with hassle-free enjoyment for years to come.
