Project Details

Surrounded by the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Berkshire County is home to rolling green hills and beautiful natural wonders to explore. We worked with the owners of a house set on a beautiful acreage who were looking to embrace the natural beauty of their surroundings. We collaborated with local architects and builders to outfit this home with windows and a new entry door. Keeping in mind the traditional design of the home, our experts recommended Pella Reserve — Traditional windows and a wood front door with glass to get the desired aesthetic.

Curved Double-Hung Windows Add Unique Design Element to Bedroom

The architect wanted to make a unique design statement in the primary bedroom by adding windows to a curved wall. We recommended double-hung windows because they exude traditional style and offer convenient ventilation. The addition of these bedroom windows required custom interior and exterior curved molding. To complement the other windows throughout the home, we provided white windows with traditional grilles.

Custom Blue Front Door Enhances Entryway

An exciting part of this project was the expansion of the foyer. The blue front door greatly enhances curb appeal and serves as a focal point. Blue is a popular and calming color fit for homes in coastal areas. The grilles are true to the traditional style of the rest of the home. In addition to ¾ glass panels on the door itself, the transoms above the door and surrounding windows allow ample natural light to shine through the foyer. One benefit of wood front doors is the unique detail that can be added to make the door feel as personalized as possible. From one-of-a-kind finishes to intricate grille options, wood doors offer ample design flexibility.

White Windows Create Elegant Traditional Design

To match the beautiful light exterior of the home, we recommended white windows to be used consistently throughout the space. The windows complement the aesthetic nicely without drawing unnecessary attention to any one part of the home. White windows are timeless and elegant, offering a clean and versatile look to suit any exterior style or interior home design. In addition to being visually stunning, white wood windows are durable, energy-efficient and built with peak performance.

Our experts enjoyed the opportunity to collaborate with J. Harwood Architects, Chris May Builders and the homeowners to create a stunning mountain home. Uniquely customized with traditional design in mind, these new windows and doors deliver luxury without compromising durability. The many intricate details showcase the level of care and time our experts put into this project.
