The Seattle Craftsman bungalow is known for thick squared columns, a gabled roof with overhanging eaves and trim around windows. The homeowners of this Seattle home wanted to give their 1917 historic bungalow a refresh but maintain its classic aesthetic. The refresh project included full-frame replacement of the craftsman windows throughout the entire home with new casement windows.
Craftsman Window Grilles Emulate Original Windows
Synonymous with craftsman style, top row window grilles feature straight line grilles only on the top portion of the window. The chosen Pella Reserve – Traditional casement windows with this classic grille pattern exude the tenets of traditional design. Sophisticated character is added to the home’s curb appeal with Integral Light Technology® grilles which are permanently adhered to the outside of the glass with wood on the interior and durable aluminum on the exterior. This gives the appearance of true divided lights with modern energy efficiency.
Wood Windows Add Warmth and Character
To maintain the charm of the home, the homeowners chose a clear stain on the interior of their Douglas Fir species wood windows. It beautifully showcases the warmth of the wood and allows it to shine. On the exterior, the black windows pop against the white trim and feature durable aluminum cladding. The low-maintenance exterior protects the windows from the elements and will keep the windows looking beautiful for years. The result is simply gorgeous and polishes this historic Seattle Craftsman bungalow.
