After more than 20 years in their Wichita brick home, this family knew it was time for an update, but they didn’t want to start from scratch. Their original windows were from Pella, and that quality had held up. So, when it came time to replace them, they came back to the brand they trusted, but with a new vision in mind.
This time around, their priority was bringing the home’s look into a more contemporary space—cleaner lines, a sleeker profile and improved energy performance. The biggest design change? Saying goodbye to grilles. Removing them opened the sightlines and brought in more natural light, creating a smoother visual flow from the inside out.
Grille-Free Glass Refreshes the Front Elevation
This project focused on transforming the entire front façade with new casement and picture windows, replacing a series of older, gridded units that had started to feel dated. The switch to clean, grille-free glass immediately created a more open, contemporary look—both from the curb and from inside the home.
The once a more traditional focal point, is now a sleek architectural feature, thanks to the uninterrupted glass and streamlined frames. The soft almond cladding adds a subtle contrast against the red brick exterior without overpowering it—helping the new windows blend in while still delivering a crisp visual upgrade.
Inside, the refreshed windows allow for brighter natural light and more expansive sightlines, especially in rooms that face the street. The result is a cleaner, more connected front elevation that feels elevated yet effortless.
Energy-Efficient Windows Designed for Kansas Weather
While the visual update is clear, the functional improvements are just as important. The Lifestyle Series windows chosen for this project feature advanced Low-E insulating glass with argon for better energy efficiency, helping the home stay comfortable across Kansas’s wide temperature swings. The full-frame installation ensures a tight seal and long-term durability.
By removing grilles and opting for larger, fixed glass and operable casements, the homeowners gained better airflow options, clearer views and a smoother look, all while upgrading thermal performance and sound control.
Home Window Upgrade That Blends Style and Performance
This project is a perfect example of how window replacement doesn’t have to mean starting over. Sometimes, it’s about building on what already works—refining the details, improving the comfort and bringing the home into the present without losing what made it great in the first place.
With expert guidance from the Pella Kansas team, this family now enjoys a refreshed home that feels lighter, brighter and ready for the next 20 years.
