Project Details

A grand entrance can make a powerful statement and significantly enhance a home's curb appeal. In Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, C Barton Services collaborated with the homeowners of a charming colonial residence to replace their front door, opting for an elegant Pella® Reserve™ wood double door that perfectly complements the home's traditional architecture.

Selecting the Ideal Front Door for a Colonial Home

When choosing a new front door for this colonial home, we collaborated with the homeowners to focus on finding a style that would seamlessly blend with the existing architectural elements while adding a touch of sophistication. The Pella® Reserve™ — Traditional wood hinged doors proved to be the perfect choice, offering a timeless design, superior craftsmanship and customizable options to suit the homeowners' preferences.

The selected double door features a tan exterior finish that beautifully contrasts with the home's white trim and black shutters, creating a striking visual impact against the brick facade. The door's warm, inviting hue adds depth and dimension to the entryway, making it a focal point of the home's exterior design.

Enhancing Privacy and Style with Prairie Grilles and Frosted Glass

To maintain privacy while still allowing natural light to filter into the foyer, the homeowners opted for frosted glass panels adorned with prairie-style simulated-divided-light grilles. The frosted glass obscures the view into the home, providing a sense of seclusion and security, while the prairie grilles add a distinctive geometric pattern that echoes the design of the home's existing windows. This cohesive look ties the front door seamlessly into the overall aesthetic of the colonial residence.

Showcasing Craftsmanship with a Provincial Stain Interior

While the exterior of the wood double door makes a striking first impression, the interior is equally impressive. The homeowners selected a rich, warm Provincial stain for the door's interior, showcasing the natural beauty and grain of the wood. This attention to detail demonstrates the exceptional craftsmanship and quality of Pella® Reserve™ products, as the stain highlights the intricate woodwork and adds a touch of elegance to the home's entryway.

Completing the Look with Satin Nickel Hardware

To complete the front door's updates, we collaborated with C Barton Services to install Satin Nickel hardware, including handles and hinges. The sleek, modern finish of the front door’s hardware complements the tan exterior and Provincial stain interior, adding a contemporary touch to the traditional design. The Satin Nickel's subtle sheen catches the light, drawing the eye to the door's details and enhancing its overall appeal.

An Updated Entryway That Combines Functionality and Curb Appeal

Working alongside C Barton Services and the homeowners resulted in a stunning front door replacement that elevates the colonial home's curb appeal while providing enhanced functionality and security. The new wood double door, with its tan exterior, prairie grilles, frosted glass, Provincial stain interior and Satin Nickel hardware, creates an inviting and elegant entrance that perfectly complements the home's traditional architecture. This successful project demonstrates the power of carefully selecting and customizing a front door to update a home's exterior and make a lasting impression on all who enter.
