Project Details

Nestled in the picturesque mountainside, Crozet, Virginia capitalizes on small-town charm. With seasonally diverse weather, the area offers a wide variety of natural beauty to explore. This homeowner decided to replace their old screened-in porch with windows to make it a fully functional four-seasons room.

Screened-In Porch Conversion Makes Space More Functional

The conversion of the screened-in porch to a four-seasons room with windows offers a drastic change to the function of the space. This room can now be enjoyed year-round and boasts a clear view that isn’t blocked by screens. Below each sliding window is a picture window, allowing plenty of natural light to pour into the space. From relaxing sunrises to late-night breezes, this room is a great chance for the homeowners to experience the outdoors while still being comfortable in their home.

Sliding Windows Maximize Convenience

One of the biggest perks of a four-seasons room is the ability to experience an abundance of fresh air. The inclusion of sliding windows makes getting airflow from multiple points in the room a breeze. The sliding windows are designed to glide open and close easily along a track. This allows the homeowners to make better use of the space by placing furniture directly in front of the windows and still be able to open them. These windows also won’t interfere with large bushes or plants on the outside of the sunroom, as they don’t require any additional room to open.

Fiberglass Windows Offer Durability in Virginia’s Diverse Climate

Often without a heat source, four-seasons rooms must withstand drastic temperature changes. Fiberglass is a thermoset material, meaning it won’t melt or break down when exposed to environmental temperature swings and can handle the most extreme heat and cold.32 These windows are also highly energy efficient, which helps make the room comfortable year-round while keeping energy costs lower. Pella’s proprietary fiberglass material is the strongest material for windows, engineered for lasting durability.9 Built to resist dents, bends and breaks, fiberglass windows are designed to be weather resistant.

With a special emphasis on making the most out of their newly designed space, we were able to remodel this homeowner’s sunroom and convert it into a four-seasons room. Offering natural lighting, this room is truly a year-round oasis that these homeowners will appreciate for years to come.
