Project Details

With the Adirondack Mountains to the west and the Green Mountains to the east, Burlington, Vermont lies on a hillside and is home to many beautiful properties. Locals often build their homes to overlook these breathtaking bluffs for a connection to nature. The homeowners of this new mountain build were no exception. They turned to our team at Pella of Vermont to supply custom windows and doors for their modern home. With the help of Pella Reserve — Contemporary wood windows, we made the vision of this project come to life.

Trapezoid Window Adds Custom Character to Home

The homeowners wanted to capitalize on natural light in their home and were interested in adding a wall of windows. We installed a large trapezoid window on top of picture and awning windows. Combining windows of different shapes adds character and design interest to the home. These floor-to-ceiling windows help connect the space to the outdoors. We were intentional about including the awning windows to allow for airflow throughout the home. The custom trapezoid window on top follows the angled roofline, furthering the modern style with straight, geometric lines.

Black Windows Complement Contemporary Design

True to contemporary design, black interior finish is a popular choice for many modern homes. Black windows pop against lighter colors, and in this case, the frames contrast the light brown stain of the window seat. While a modern choice, the sophisticated and simple windows still complement the home’s mountain charm. As a natural insulator, wood windows work well in Vermont’s cold climate to keep the home more comfortable during the winter months. Our durable exterior aluminum cladding is low-maintenance and built to be weather-resistant. The newly installed windows will be sure to withstand the high levels of snowfall, up to 72 inches, that Burlington can experience each year.

Through our collaboration with the homeowners, we created a beautiful and unique wall of windows. The trapezoid window acts as a focal point for the space and adds a contemporary feel to the home. Built to be resistant to the changing seasons of Vermont, we know these homeowners will enjoy gorgeous scenery for years to come.
