Bow Window Replacement Brings Fresh Style to Kansas Home

New bow and picture windows add light, charm and clear views throughout.

Project Details

When hail damaged the original windows of this Kingman, Kansas home, the homeowner saw more than just a need for repairs—she saw a chance to upgrade. Rather than replacing her windows with like-for-like models, she opted for modern updates that improved both form and function. That included refreshing her existing bow window for a cleaner look and upgrading other windows throughout the home to let in more natural light and improve energy efficiency.

Bow Window Becomes a Front-Facing Feature

The home already featured a bow window at the front, but after years of wear and a recent hailstorm, it was ready for an upgrade. The homeowner replaced the aging unit with a new five-panel Pella® Lifestyle Series bow window, opting for a darker exterior finish that gives the brick façade a more modern, refined look.

While the overall shape and placement remained the same, the updated bow window delivers a noticeable improvement in both style and performance. The gentle curve still brings in abundant natural light from multiple angles, but the cleaner lines, updated cladding and improved insulation elevate the entire space, both inside and out.

Clear Views and Clean Lines in the Kitchen

Another standout element of the project was the updated kitchen window. The homeowner specifically wanted to remove visual obstructions and enjoy a wide-open view of her backyard. To meet that goal, the previous casement windows were replaced with a picture window, creating a seamless view of the patio, lawn and tree line beyond.

Where the old window frames split the scenery in half, the new fixed glass allows uninterrupted sightlines and a lot more natural light. It’s a simple switch that makes a big impact.

Coordinated Replacements Throughout the Home

In addition to the bow and kitchen windows, the replacement project included a variety of casement and picture windows throughout the dining room, spare room and other living spaces. These upgrades brought a cohesive look to the home, while also delivering modern performance benefits like improved insulation and sound control.

Because the project was spurred by hail damage, durability was just as important as design. The homeowner selected EnduraClad® aluminum-clad exteriors, which offer long-term protection against fading, chalking and weather-related wear.

A Fresh Start After the Storm

This project is a great example of how necessity can spark transformation. What began as storm-related damage evolved into a full refresh that improved everyday comfort, upgraded energy efficiency and gave the home a more modern, timeless look.

From the show-stopping bow window to the wide-open kitchen view, every window was chosen with purpose, and the results speak for themselves.
