Triple Sliding Glass Doors Complete Garage Makeover

Having a dedicated area for making music always felt like a far-fetched dream for this Austin, Texas homeowner. Each room in the house already had a different purpose, leaving little space for creating music without losing functionality or disrupting others. With no intentions of relocating to a larger house, the homeowner sought alternative solutions that would enhance their current home to better suit their lifestyle and hobbies. Their dream finally became a reality by converting the existing garage into a music studio.

Thinking outside the box, the homeowner had the idea of remodeling their existing garage to expand the usable square footage of their house. Crucial to this project was the installation of two 3-panel sliding glass doors in place of the old garage doors. This decision brightened the 43-year-old garage and gave it a whole new purpose. Creating a wall of glass, the new vinyl patio doors make the room feel like an added interior space instead of a garage. In total, there are six tall glass panels that flood the space with Texas’ bright sunlight. What was once a cold, dark and dingy garage is now a bright, warm and inviting studio. Fresh flooring, trim work and paint also help make this room feel functional and inspiring for music-making.

Sleek, black patio doors are the focal point of this renovation. Against the backdrop of the home’s age, the new doors bring modern style and boldness to the old brick home. The exterior of the home is neutral with rough textures while the refreshed interior features white walls. For the patio doors, we recommended a smooth black finish to add contrast and visual interest, elevating both the interior and exterior with a contemporary edge.
