The existing sashes and exterior stops of the old double- or single-hung window are removed along with any balances or jambliners. The new window is placed against the interior stop from the exterior.

The existing sashes of the old double- or single-hung window are removed by cutting the balance chords and removing the interior stop and parting stops. The new window is placed against the exterior stop from the interior. The interior stops can then be re-installed.
