    Project Details

Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, this Berkshire County home underwent a remarkable transformation, combining timeless design with modern function. Our team at Pella Western Massachusetts collaborated with the homeowners, J. Harwood Architects and Chris May Builders to outfit this home with replacement windows and a new entryway. Keeping in mind the cottage style, our experts recommended Pella® Reserve™ — Traditional windows and a blue front door to maintain classical charm, while improving overall curb appeal.

Curved Double-Hung Windows Add Unique Design Interest to Bedroom

To add a design statement to the primary bedroom, the architect wanted to place windows on the curved wall. These new windows offer panoramic outdoor views, immersing the homeowners in nature. The curved configuration allows an abundance of natural light to flood the bedroom with sunshine, creating a well-lit interior space.

We recommended double-hung windows for their convenient ventilation and traditional style. The two moveable sashes enhance air flow, capturing the crisp mountain air while ensuring the homeowners are kept cool when sleeping. To complement the interior molding, the double-hung windows have a white finish with traditional grilles. The custom curved molding on both the interior and exterior not only enhances the bedroom’s aesthetic appeal but also demonstrates the craftsmanship behind the bedroom windows.

A Custom Blue Front Door Improves Curb Appeal in Berkshire County

An exciting part of this project was the expansion of the foyer. Our team provided a new addition to the entryway: a blue front door which greatly enhances curb appeal. The striking design and color choice makes this front door memorable. As the home’s focal point, the door is a calming blue color that exudes the serenity of Berkshire County’s natural surroundings.

The transom and side windows brighten the foyer, creating a warm and inviting entrance. Our wood front doors use unique details to make the door feel as personalized as possible. From one-of-a-kind finishes to intricate grille options, this new wood door makes a statement with its bold blue color and traditional grilles.

White Windows Capture Elegant Traditional Design

To match the beautiful cottage style exterior, we recommended white windows. The crisp white frames blend seamlessly with the light siding, offering a polished look that complements the home’s traditional architecture. These white wood windows are timeless and elegant. Their clean and versatile look makes them the perfect addition to this home.

In addition to being visually stunning, wood windows are extremely durable. Our wooden frames have an extruded aluminum clad exterior for long-lasting durability that will withstand New England’s changing seasons.

Our experts enjoyed the opportunity to collaborate with J. Harwood Architects, Chris May Builders and the homeowners to renovate this stunning home . Intricate details throughout the home showcase the level of care and time our experts put into this project. This Berkshire County home now balances timeless elegance with modern functionality, proving that every detail — from curved windows to a bold front door — can transform a house into a dream home.
