For these homeowners, the sunroom overlooking the water was always a favorite spot—bright and inviting, but the original windows had begun to block more of the view than they revealed. Narrow sightlines and multiple casement panels made the wall of glass feel busy, interrupting what should have been a sweeping lakeside panorama.
Working with Pella Virginia, he wanted to simplify and open that space without losing its character. Together, the team designed a new layout featuring Pella Lifestyle Series wood windows and matching sliding patio doors, carefully arranged to create wide, unobstructed views of the lake and the tree-lined shore beyond.
Warm Tan Windows That Complement the Home’s Style
Instead of defaulting to white or black, the homeowners chose tan window frames on the exterior to echo the soft, natural tones of the home’s existing finishes. Inside, the wood interiors were stained to match the existing trim in the sunroom, creating a cohesive look that feels original to the space.
This small design decision made a big difference: the tan frames blend seamlessly with the lakefront setting, while the wood interiors add warmth and texture that make the light-filled room feel grounded and inviting.
Sliding Patio Door Enhances Indoor-Outdoor Connection
One of the most noticeable upgrades came with the new sliding patio door, which replaced an older, narrower opening to the deck. The new door’s expansive glass panels extend the line of sight from the dining area straight to the water, creating a stronger connection between indoor and outdoor living spaces.
The door glides open smoothly to reveal the deck—perfect for stepping out with morning coffee or hosting dinner with a lake view. Its matching wood-clad frame ties in beautifully with the nearby windows, reinforcing the cohesive, natural aesthetic that defines the entire room.
Beyond its beauty, the new patio door also improves energy efficiency and noise control, thanks to advanced glass technology and precision installation. The result is a door that performs as beautifully as it looks—welcoming light, preserving comfort and framing the landscape like a piece of art.
Casement Windows and Sliding Doors That Maximize Light and Efficiency
Replacing the aging windows also meant an upgrade in performance. The new energy-efficient casement windows and sliding patio doors help keep temperatures comfortable through Virginia’s humid summers and cool winters—all while reducing energy use.
Beyond efficiency, the larger glass panels and slimmer frames make the view the true centerpiece of the home. Whether standing at the kitchen sink or sitting at the dining table, the lake feels closer and more connected to the living space.
A More Peaceful, Cohesive Space to Enjoy Every Season
For the homeowner, the results speak for themselves: a clearer view, consistent finishes and a calm, cohesive look throughout the sunroom. The project proves how thoughtful design—paired with Pella craftsmanship—can transform a familiar space into something extraordinary.
Now, the view from the sunroom is exactly what it should be: the lake, the trees and everything in between.
