For contractors working on legacy hospitality buildings, the balance between maintaining architectural integrity and delivering modern performance is a frequent challenge. At this Colorado Springs resort—part of The Broadmoor’s historic campus—that challenge was met with Pella Reserve — Traditional casement windows. These wood windows provide a historically appropriate aesthetic while meeting current performance expectations.
Pella Reserve — Traditional casement windows feature timeless details like ogee sash profiles, authentic wood interiors and factory-applied EnduraClad® aluminum exteriors in a standard white finish. This made them a seamless match for the building’s original design while reducing long-term maintenance for ownership.
Engineered to Perform in High-Altitude and High-Visibility Settings
Given the building’s elevation and exposure to Colorado’s fluctuating climate, performance was critical. The selected windows were built with dual-pane Advanced Low-E insulating glass with argon gas, optimized for high-altitude environments. This helped maintain energy efficiency while reducing condensation potential in guest rooms.
Windows installed included wash hinges and fold-away crank hardware for ease of use, while factory-finished interiors eliminated the need for post-install painting—saving time and costs onsite.
The Pella Reserve — Traditional casement line is also rated for Performance Class CW and PG 50, with a U-Factor as low as 0.29 and SHGC values around 0.25–0.27 depending on configuration. That means long-term durability, reliable thermal performance and compliance with demanding commercial codes.
Project Coordination That Keeps Schedules Moving
Only a portion of the building was targeted for window replacement, which meant careful coordination between the Pella sales rep, site manager and installation crew. Timing was essential to minimize disruption to resort operations and ensure access and staging didn’t interfere with guest experiences.
Our local Pella team worked closely with Bob McGrath Construction to verify dimensions, address field conditions and deliver a complete, install-ready package. Every window was branch-assembled and shipped with pre-applied trim details and factory-applied paint to streamline installation.
A Reliable Solution for Commercial Retrofit Work
For contractors focused on commercial renovations, especially in hospitality or historic properties, Pella windows offer an ideal combination of form and function. The flexibility of custom sizing, the authenticity of wood interiors and the resilience of EnduraClad® exteriors make them a dependable choice when aesthetics can’t be compromised.
Whether it’s a single wing or a full property renovation, this project proves that with the right partnership and product line, performance and preservation can happen simultaneously.
