This two-story living room in Minneapolis featured windows from the 1980s. To improve energy efficiency, simplify maintenance and enhance beauty, the homeowner decided it was time to start the window replacement process. They turned to our team at Pella of Minnesota for help selecting and installing new windows that perform better but still maintain the original style of the home.
Wood Windows Improve Energy and Sound Performance
While the original 1980s windows provided plenty of light to the great room, window technology and construction have advanced since then. The homeowner wanted new windows with improved energy efficiency and sound control. Since they also aimed to preserve the overall aesthetic of their living room, we recommended wood windows for their project. Wood offers the most design flexibility, meaning we could mimic the sizes, color and grilles of their original windows. Pella Lifestyle Series windows are the #1 performing wood window for the combination of energy, sound and value.16 Triple-pane glass featuring mixed thicknesses helps slow the transfer of heat and disrupt sound waves. This leads to a more comfortable and quiet home, even during frigid winters in bustling Minneapolis. Crafted from exquisite wood, these traditional windows seamlessly integrate with the home's design while meeting the homeowner's desire for enhanced performance.
Floor-to-Ceiling Windows Expand Glass in Living Room
The best part of this living room is its floor-to-ceiling windows. They make the space feel grand and inviting, accentuating the height of this two-story room. In replacing the windows, the homeowner hoped to maintain this generous glass square footage. One of the standout features of the new wood windows is their compatibility with the existing window dimensions, streamlining the replacement process without needing to modify the rough opening. This not only simplified installation but also slightly increased the glass area, thanks to the sleeker frame design of the new windows. The old windows had metal-banded inner panels to reinforce the window structure around the edges of the glass panes. In this older window design, the metal bands were visible on the glass. The new living room windows allow for larger expanses of glass without obstructive metal frames, creating a sleeker and more open aesthetic. The lack of metal bands also creates a smoother glass surface that is easier to clean.
Pella of Minnesota Provides Exceptional Customer Experience
At the heart of every successful project lies exceptional customer care. The homeowner expressed appreciation to their Pella representative, Matt Groth, for his professionalism, product knowledge and competitive pricing. When asked how the project went, the homeowner said:
“From the initial bid and through the whole experience, Matt was a pleasure to work with. He knew his product very well and was professional as well as friendly. He provided us with a very competitive bid … and followed through to the completion of the task. I also must compliment the installers. Their work ethic and skill were excellent, and they saved me a lot of work that I was concerned that I would have to do after the windows were in.”
The homeowner is thrilled with how the project turned out and had a great experience working with Pella of Minnesota. By combining style, sound performance and energy efficiency, these replacement windows elevate comfort and elegance in this Minneapolis home.
