Window Replacement Refreshes a Traditional Brick Home in Chesterfield

Some homes have a timeless exterior that homeowners want to preserve even as building materials begin to wear out. That was the case with this traditional brick home in Chesterfield, Virginia, where the existing windows had peeled paint and were beginning to lose their integrity. The homeowners wanted replacement windows that would improve energy efficiency while matching the home's established architectural style. 

The completed project involved replacement white fiberglass windows throughout the home, giving the house a clean, well-maintained appearance without changing its familiar character.

The replacement windows complement the home's existing brick façade, black shutters and white trim. Maintaining that traditional color palette was an important part of the project, allowing the updated windows to blend naturally with the home's architecture instead of standing out as a noticeable alteration. 

The project also included a combination of double-hung and picture windows in a variety of sizes to fit openings throughout the home, including larger living spaces and smaller bedroom windows. The custom mix allowed each room to retain its existing proportions while updating the home's overall appearance.

Consistency was just as important as performance for this replacement. White Pella Impervia® fiberglass windows were installed throughout the home, with insulated Low-E glass and argon gas specified for most openings. The large kitchen window received insulated dual Low-E glass, and select windows were fitted with InView™ screens. 

Outside, the new windows look like they belong to the home. Their clean white frames echo the proportions of the originals while replacing windows whose peeling paint and weathered sills had begun to detract from the home's appearance.

The replacement centered on white fiberglass windows sized to fit the home's existing openings. Most windows were specified with insulated Low-E glass and argon gas, while the fixed kitchen picture window received insulated dual Low-E glass. InView™ screens were included on select units.
