Contemporary Picture Windows Support Modern Administrative Building Design

Designed with a sleek, modern exterior, the Thomas Tomayko Administrative Building for the Western Butler County Authority (WBCA) features expansive glass and dark architectural finishes that create a strong visual presence. The project team selected Pella® Reserve™ — Contemporary picture windows in Iron Ore to complement the building’s clean geometry and contemporary façade. 

Large expanses of glass help maximize daylight throughout the administrative spaces while maintaining the streamlined appearance desired for the project. The narrow sightlines and oversized picture window configurations contribute to the building’s modern commercial aesthetic while supporting long-term performance requirements.

The project incorporated multiple custom-sized picture window configurations, including large picture windows and expansive corner glazing systems. The windows feature Iron Ore exteriors with black-stained interior finishes and frame extensions to align with the building’s contemporary detailing. 

The dark window finish pairs with the gray masonry, black metal accents and blue exterior panels to create a cohesive commercial exterior palette. Inside, the black-stained interiors help reinforce the modern architectural style while maintaining consistency across office and public-facing spaces.

Tall picture windows wrap the building corners and extend across large wall sections to bring natural light deeper into the interior. The oversized glazing configurations help create an open, professional environment while maintaining the minimal framing associated with contemporary commercial design. 

The project also included commercial outswing doors finished in Iron Ore to coordinate with the surrounding glazing systems and exterior finishes.

Located in western Pennsylvania, the administrative building required durable commercial-grade window systems capable of performing through seasonal weather changes while supporting the project’s architectural goals. The aluminum-clad construction and commercial glazing systems provide long-term durability for the facility while maintaining the clean appearance expected in civic and administrative buildings.
