Historic Carlisle Farm Cabin Revitalized with Window and Door Replacements

Pella Windows and Doors of Harrisburg partnered with Creative Building Concepts on an ambitious project to transform an inoperable log cabin on Homespun Farm in Carlisle, Pennsylvania into a beautiful and functional home.

The historic cabin was in dire need of renovations to make it a functional living space again. Creative Building Concepts, known for their innovative design approaches and focus on green building, took on the challenge. Over the course of a year and a half, they worked to preserve the cabin's rustic charm while integrating modern amenities and features.

A key part of the revitalization was replacing the cabin's old, non-functional windows and doors. We worked closely with the Creative Building Concepts team to outfit the home with stylish, high-performance Pella products that complement the cabin's aesthetic.

For the windows, we recommended Pella's Lifestyle Series dual-pane double-hung windows in a black exterior cladding with Provincial stained interiors and oil-rubbed bronze hardware. Custom simulated-divided-light window grilles add character throughout. The same beautiful windows were used to convert additional space that originally served as the cabin's summer kitchen.

The entry doors are smooth fiberglass doors in Naval Blue, while a Pella® Reserve™ — Traditional hinged patio door in black provides exterior access. To tie everything together, the original wooden front door was repainted in Pella's Naval color to match the new blue entry doors.

The before and after images showcase the stunning transformation. The renovated cabin maintains its homespun charm, while the stylish black windows provide modern functionality and visual contrast. A view of the cabin exterior highlights how the orange-brown stone and log siding are elevated by the crisp black window frames and doors. Inside, the Provincial stained window interiors add warmth and tie in with the rustic wood flooring and ceiling beams.

In the end, the partnership between Pella and Creative Building Concepts proved highly successful in revitalizing this historic property to meet modern standards while preserving its heritage. The new windows and doors are both functionally and aesthetically integral to making this old log cabin a beautiful, livable home for the 21st century.
