In the quiet, small town of Newtown, Connecticut we met with the homeowners of a beautiful farmhouse. Looking to add a modern touch to their space, these homeowners came to Pella for advice on how to upgrade their home but still retain that nostalgic farmhouse appeal. We recommended black fiberglass windows and patio doors to transform their home.

Sunroom Windows and Patio Doors Provide Complete Transformation

One of the things our homeowners love about their home is the beautiful land it sits on. With their sunroom, they had the chance to upgrade their space to be able to take in the scenery surrounding their home all year long. We recommended double-hung windows for this space to showcase the classic farmhouse style, while still giving easy functionality for ventilation. The addition of the sunroom patio door also proved to be a great way to get natural light into the room and allowed for easy access to the back patio.

Black Windows Contrast Beautifully with Lighter Interior Décor

A major part of the farmhouse aesthetic is the use of lighter colors throughout the home. These homeowners boldy chose black windows to make their space more modern. The windows contrast nicely with the white and gray interior of the home and stand out beautifully without overpowering the space.  From the kitchen to the patio and even the bathroom, the color contrasts of black windows in this home add a modern touch to the space.

Bathroom Window Offers Bright and Spacious Feel

In the bathroom of a home, there’s always a balancing act between retaining privacy in such an intimate space and getting natural light into the room. For this reason, we recommended adding only one window to the room. We placed it high enough in the space to keep the area private while still letting natural light in. Additionally, the window makes the space bright and airy, feeling larger in size.

Our window and door expertise, partnered with very enthusiastic homeowners, allowed us to transform several rooms and breathe new life into this farmhouse. Keeping in mind that Newtown, Connecticut averages nearly 52” of rainfall a year and a little over 41” of snow, we were able to offer reliable, weather resistant upgrades to ther home while still staying true to the farmhouse aesthetic. We know these homeowners will enjoy the new modern touches of their home for years to come.
